Fort Osage Barracks to Receive New Wood Floors
We would like to thank long-time Fort Osage Volunteer David Bennett for his contribution to underwrite the cost of new wood floors in the Fort Osage barracks, and artificer’s shop. The barracks, except for ‘B’ and ‘C’, have had dirt floors since they were reconstructed. Dave also coordinates the Annual Fall Muster at Fort Osage and The War of 1812 in the West Symposium.

Fort Osage National Historic Landmark is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Information regarding Jackson Parks + Rec COVID-19 changes can be found on their website. David Bennett Receives the 2019 Volunteer Award
Congratulations to David Bennett on receiving the 2019 Jackson County Parks + Rec Department’s Outstanding Service Award! David spends a lot of time organizing the War of 1812 events at Fort Osage. Fort Osage Staff Member Awarded the Jackson County Associate of the Month: March 2018
Thanks to a keen eye and quick action the Fort Osage National Historic Landmark was saved from an out of control grass fire. Laura King was working as the gift shop attendant in the Education Center and was the last associate onsite for the day.
